Venezuela's acting President Delcy Rodríguez will visit India this week to bolster bilateral ties and explore avenues for cooperation in energy security, trade, and investment.
The visit, scheduled from June 3-7, is expected to strengthen energy ties between the two nations, with Venezuela emerging as India's third-largest oil supplier in May.
During her talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 4, Rodríguez will discuss opportunities for cooperation in energy, trade, investment, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, and transportation.
The visit comes at a time when India is diversifying its energy purchases following supply disruptions caused by the US-Iran conflict.
India's state-run ONGC Videsh Ltd. has been unable to repatriate over $500 million in dividends from Venezuela, and the issue is expected to be discussed during the visit.
