Venezuelan interim president Delcy Rodriguez will visit India from June 3 to 7, amidst a global energy crisis triggered by the US-Israel-Iran conflict.

India is diversifying its oil imports, with Venezuela emerging as its second-largest supplier after the US.

Rodriguez will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, covering energy, trade, investment, and other areas.

India's move comes amid a push from the US to buy Venezuelan oil, following a military operation in 2025 that changed the regime.

The US will control oil sales proceeds through bank accounts administered by the US Treasury Department.

India's energy diversification strategy aims to ensure security for its 1.4 billion population, despite US sanctions and tariffs.
