Cleveland Browns fans are in for a shock as Shedeur Sanders, last season's QB1, may lose his position to Deshaun Watson in the 2026-27 NFL season.

According to Browns Insider Mary Kat Cabot, Todd Monken prefers Watson over Sanders based on their performances in the voluntary minicamp.

However, the decision is not final, and Sanders has five months to impress Monken and take over the QB1 position.

Three key areas where Watson has an edge over Sanders are his better offensive understanding, critical skills displayed at the Texans, and experience.

Watson's knowledge of new offensive systems, carryover in terminology and plays, and display of spread and passing concepts give him an advantage over Sanders.

Watson's nine seasons of experience in the NFL, including playing for the Houston Texans and Browns, also set him apart from Sanders, who will enter his second season.
