Mumbai: In a historic achievement, Kenya's Sebastian Sawe has shattered the two-hour marathon barrier, winning the London Marathon in 1 hour, 59 minutes and 30 seconds (01:59:30).

Backed by cutting-edge super-shoes and ideal running conditions, Sawe broke the official world record by 65 seconds and the unofficial one set by Eliud Kipchoge in 2019.

The 31-year-old athlete, running in his fourth marathon, was also aided by the newly launched Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3 shoe, designed by Adidas as the 'lightest and fastest racing shoe' ever.

Just 11 seconds behind Sawe was Ethiopia's Yomif Kejelcha, who also broke the world record in his first full marathon.

This achievement marks a significant milestone in the quest to aid long-distance athletes with cutting-edge research, technology, and equipment.
