East Bengal FC were crowned champions of the Indian Super League for the first time, ending a 22-year title drought in the country's top-tier competition.

The Kolkata-based club emerged triumphant after a 2-1 victory over Inter Kashi, while Mohun Bagan Super Giant rallied to beat Sporting Club Delhi 2-1.

Youssef Ezzejjari scored the equaliser in the 50th minute and Mohammed Rashid sealed the win in the 73rd minute, securing East Bengal's first ISL title.

The 33-year-old Ezzejjari, who also won the Golden Boot with 11 goals, made up for his earlier missed chances in the game.

East Bengal last won the top-tier domestic league title in the 2003–04 season and held a crucial advantage with a superior goal difference of 18 compared to Mohun Bagan's 13.
