The remark came as the Browns' quarterback competition between Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders heated up. Watson currently leads the competition, but head coach Todd Monken has yet to officially name him the starter.
Watson returned to offseason activities after missing the 2025 season due to injury, while Shedeur Sanders has brought energy and optimism during his first full NFL offseason. The Browns have also added to their quarterback room with the latest draft pick, Taylen Green.
