Caleb Wilson's season has come to an abrupt end after the North Carolina star freshman suffered a broken right thumb in practice. The high-end NBA prospect was on the mend from a previous left hand fracture and had been cleared for individual work.

Wilson, averaging 19.8 points and 9.4 rebounds, had been focusing on non-contact drills like dribbling and shooting. However, during Thursday's practice, he suffered the injury while dunking.

The Tar Heels were already locked into the No. 4 seed at the upcoming ACC Tournament with a double-round bye into Thursday's quarterfinals. They will face No. 1 Duke on Saturday in their last game before the tournament.
